Baby Gavin

I shot Gavin’s Dad Tom Atencio gavinatencio_landrymajor-78blogfor Fight! Magazine. He had just had a new baby and asked me to shoot photos of him with his baby.  Gavin was 6 weeks old and the sweetest little baby. What was immediately clear was the special bond already between father and son.  The whole time Tom held Gavin he either slept at total peace, or smiled. You can see Tom transformed into this amazing loving person before your eyes when Gavin is near. The magic that a child works on our lives never ceases to amaze me. I was so honored to have been asked to take these photos.

Mike and his boys

I recently did photos of a Dad about to ship out to Iraq for the next 14 months.  His ex-wife was the one who hired me, which is incredibly special. They have two young sons who are going to miss their Dad so much. If anything happened to him, she wanted them to have special photos of them together. How wonderful is that? These boys love their Dad so much, I can’t imagine them not seeing him for over a year. Our kids change so much in that short time. I was honored to be able to spend time with such a great family and capture the love they all have for each other. I put the images up on a web gallery so the Dad can see them anytime while he is away. I am sending out a big wish that he comes home safe and early to his boys!jodi_landrymajor-2-47

Beauty By the Sea

What do you get when you add one beautiful family and one incredible day at the beach? Lots of amazing photos full of love and laughter. We had to wait out two weeks of rainy Los Angeles days, but we finally got one perfect day.Paradise Cove has always been one of my own favorite beaches to go with my son. It is a calm spot with lots of tide pools and places to investigate. Cristi and Mark conawaymurphy_lmajor-265-copybrought a great blue bunch of balloons and Cocoa and Miles had a blast running on the beach with them.  Cristi and Cocoa have the most amazing blue eyes ever and the sea just brought them out. There are so many moments of love and laughter you can tell this is a loving family. I loved it that Cocoa and Miles both gave me hugs before I left!

Beach Kids

Family photo shoots at the beach are my favorites, because they are such a natural place for kids. They laugh and run and explore with such glee. They get sandy and wet and in the end cold and ready to go home, but before that the smiles are wide and  plentiful!wongfamily-4503

El Capitan Canyon

img_11381I love El Capitan Canyon. It is the perfect get away. Cash and I head up there twice a year just to refresh and unplug. It is past Santa Barbara in Goleta. They have cabins with big fluffy beds and safari tents with the same. The beach is across the street and has some of the most beautiful water colour skies. We sit around the firepit at night and roast marshmallows under the stars. I have passed on the fine art of peeling the marshmallow in layers.Cash brought his Ukulele and our neighbors loved it! We always finish the trip with a great hike up the hills and come home feeling shiny and new.www.elcapitancanyon.com

Osservatorio Digitale

I am really honored to be profiled in this month’s Osservatorio Digitale professional photography magazine out of Italy.  Ezio Rotamartir interviewed me for the magazine. I was asked to submit photos which show my style and what I love to shoot, which really made me think… It came down to the emotion that is conveyed in a photo. Thank you to Ezio for writing such a great article and for asking such great thought provoking questions. It is in Italian, so if you don’t speak Italian you can always look at the images! I was lucky enough to have lived in Italy so know first hand the warmth of the people and am always thankful for my time there. Mille Grazie!

Being Cash’s Mom

I just turned around and my son Cash is six feet tall with size twelve shoes! I am such a lucky Mom and really love every minute with my child.  We have been in sync since he was born. I really love the person that he has always been. He is an individual true to himself. He is prone to wearing argyle socks that don’t match…and somehow makes it work. He should have been a hippie in the 70’s and trolls thrift stores for anything from that era. He speaks his mind, has strong opinions, and a killer sense of humor. He tells his friends he loves them, still hugs me and says he loves me in front of his friends. Yet he has always been independent and sure of standing on his own.  He is open and honest about who he loves, and who he does not. I look at his face and think how much I adore him. He is my blueprint for love. The one that taught me what true unconditional love really does mean. When ever I meet a new parent, I tell them to cherish every moment, because you will never have that one again. I hold them all in my heart.

Emily

It is great when I get to work with people again. I was so happy to shoot with Emily again this week. I had the pleasure of working with Emily a few years ago. It was wonderful to see Emily has grown into a beautiful ten year old girl! Her Mom Davina was so thoughtful and brought me tomatoes…I love tomatoes! I have the most amazing clients. Emily is represented in Los Angeles by Heinz Holba’s L.A. Models.
