The Wind

I love the wind! Everything from a gentle breeze that caresses, to a strong wind that takes anything you aren’t meant to hold. Wind is one of the reasons I have always loved having long hair. I love taking a shower, jumping on my bike with wet hair, and feeling the wind transform it into something airborne. I love driving with the windows down and my hair flying, filling the front seat with chaos. I especially love the wind that comes before a storm. It carries the smell of the rain to come, and the promise of change. Wind holds the force of nature, it washes over me and makes me feel alive. It makes me feel like I could almost…fly.

The Unspoken

How often do we leave things unspoken… Huge wonderful things that sit in our hearts and mouths. How often have we thought how much we love some one or how much joy they bring us, but let the moment go by without saying it? We ground our hearts and close our arms when they could be so full. What if we dare to live wide open….

Whims

I love the word Whim, and all it’s derivations. I love doing something on a whim… I love people with a sense of whimsy, that quirk or twinkle in their eye that sets them apart. I love creatures and things that are whimsical, they nudge the corners of your mouth up into a smile…. Whims save us from the predictable.

Wabi-Sabi

When you live in other countries certain things cling to you long after you have gone. For me, one of those things from Japan is wabi-sabi. It is the Japanese art of finding beauty in the imperfect, beauty in things humble, and in the profundity of nature. Accepting the natural cycle of decay, even finding beauty in that decay. It is the patina of aged wood, a falling barn, a wrinkle at the eye from years of laughing. It is always the simple things that move me, the humble moments between people that cling to the heart and memory. How beautiful the feather on the old wood at the pier that rests just long enough for us to see it, and then floats away.

Kissing…

How perfect can a kiss be….. There are so many types of kisses. The kiss on the hand that begins the dance, the kiss on the forehead, the kiss on the neck, even the kiss on the tip of the nose. Then there is the kiss that lingers on your mouth….. and in your heart for days…

Laughing and kissing…my two favorite things!

Lost in each other…
